Dollar Tree runs two entire retail brands on one fiscal calendar
Most people do not realize that Dollar Tree, Inc. operates both Dollar Tree stores and Family Dollar stores under the same corporate umbrella. That means both brands share the same fiscal calendar, the same pay schedule, and the same benefits enrollment timeline. If you work at either banner, the fiscal year information on this page applies to you.
Dollar Tree’s fiscal year ends on the Saturday closest to January 31. FY2025 ended on January 31, 2026. The company operates on a standard retail fiscal calendar with 52 weeks in a normal year, split into four 13-week quarters.
What Dollar Tree associates need to do, step by step
Here are the action items tied to the Dollar Tree fiscal calendar. If you work through this list at the right times during the year, you will not miss anything.
1. Confirm your pay portal access (do this now if you have not already)
Dollar Tree has more separate portal systems than any company we cover. There are at least 6 different systems you might interact with: Compass Mobile (compassmobile.dollartree.com) for schedules, pay, and news; the Associate Information Center for self-service links; MyInfo for payroll; myTree for benefits; myCareer for development; and Doculivery for W-2s and pay stubs.
Make sure you can log into Compass Mobile and Doculivery at minimum. If your first login has not been set up yet, ask your store manager for the default password. The Dollar Tree login portals page walks through each system.
2. Mark your biweekly paydays for the full year
Dollar Tree pays biweekly on Fridays. You receive 26 paychecks per year. Each pay period covers 14 calendar days, ending on a Saturday, with your paycheck arriving the following Friday.
At the start of each year, take five minutes to mark every payday on your phone calendar. Pay special attention to the two months that will have three paychecks instead of two. That extra paycheck is an opportunity to get ahead on bills or put money toward savings.
If a Friday payday lands on a bank holiday, your direct deposit should arrive on the prior business day. This typically comes up around New Year’s Day, the July 4th observed holiday, and Christmas.
3. Understand the fiscal year dates so you can plan around benefits
FY2025 ended January 31, 2026. FY2026 runs from approximately February 1, 2026 through late January 2027. Each quarter breaks down like this:
- Q1 (February – April): Fiscal year opens. New benefits elections may take effect. Annual reviews and raises typically process early in the fiscal year.
- Q2 (May – July): Mid-year period. Store staffing adjustments happen based on fiscal period labor budgets.
- Q3 (August – October): Open enrollment window for next year’s benefits. This is the most important action item on the calendar for employees who want to change their coverage.
- Q4 (November – January): Holiday selling season. Heaviest scheduling period. Fiscal year wraps up. W-2s for the calendar year (Jan-Dec) are prepared and delivered by January 31.
4. Do not miss open enrollment
Dollar Tree’s open enrollment period falls in the fall, with new benefits taking effect at the start of the next plan year. If you miss it, your current elections carry over automatically. You cannot make changes until the next enrollment window unless you have a qualifying life event like a marriage, birth, or job loss in your household.
Benefits at Dollar Tree are tied to your classification as full-time or part-time. This is where things get frustrating: many Dollar Tree employees report working full-time hours but being classified as part-time, which disqualifies them from benefits. If you believe your classification is wrong, raise the issue with your store manager and HR during the enrollment window. The Dollar Tree employee benefits page explains what each classification qualifies for.
5. Access your W-2 before tax season
W-2s follow the standard calendar year (January 1 through December 31), not the fiscal year. Dollar Tree delivers W-2s through Doculivery, which you can access through Compass Mobile under Tax Documents.
If you left Dollar Tree during the year, your portal access may be limited or cut off entirely. Former employees need to contact HR to get their W-2. The Dollar Tree W-2 page and the former employee W-2 page cover both paths.
6. Check your PTO balance before the fiscal year turns over
Dollar Tree provides paid time off that varies by full-time and part-time status. PTO policies reset at the fiscal year boundary, so check your balance before the end of January. If you have accrued time that you have not used, find out whether it carries over, gets paid out, or disappears. The Dollar Tree PTO policies page has the details by classification.
7. Plan ahead for the late 2025 system migration
Dollar Tree went through another portal migration in late 2025, adding yet another layer to an already fragmented system. If your access broke during the transition, or if you are seeing unfamiliar screens when you log into Compass Mobile, contact your store manager or HR for updated instructions.
The fiscal year vs. the tax year at Dollar Tree
Your benefits enrollment and performance reviews follow the fiscal year (Feb-Jan). Your W-2, tax withholdings, and 401(k) contribution limits follow the standard calendar year (Jan-Dec). Open enrollment bridges both: it happens in the fall of one calendar year, but the coverage starts at the beginning of the next fiscal year.
For Dollar Tree employees who are also working at Family Dollar (or who transfer between the two brands), both run on the same fiscal calendar and the same payroll systems. Your pay and benefits should transfer smoothly within the Dollar Tree, Inc. corporate structure.
