GameStop Employee Logins
Published:
With roughly 590 GameStop stores closed in 2024 and another 296+ shutting down in early 2026, there are more former GameStop employees trying to access portals right now than people currently working there. If your store recently closed (sometimes with just days of notice), your portal access timeline may be shorter than you think.
Myth #1: “GameStop Has One Employee Portal”
There are actually three systems, and each handles something different.
GameStop Workday (myworkday.gamestop.com) is the main HR portal. Benefits enrollment, scheduling, personal information updates, and some pay information live here.
Okta SSO (gamestop.okta.com) is the single sign-on gateway. Think of it as the front door. You log into Okta first, then it routes you to Workday and other internal tools. If Okta isn’t working, nothing else will either.
ADP (my.adp.com or w2.adp.com) handles pay statements and W-2s. This is a completely separate system from Workday, with its own login credentials.
The confusion between these three is responsible for most login complaints. If you’re looking for your pay stub and digging through Workday, you’re in the wrong place. Pay lives on ADP. If you’re trying to update your benefits and you’re on ADP, that’s Workday’s territory.
Myth #2: “My Workday Login Works on ADP”
It doesn’t. Workday and ADP are built by different companies with separate authentication systems. Your Workday password and your ADP password are independent. Changing one has no effect on the other.
To set up or reset your ADP login, go to my.adp.com and follow the registration process. You’ll need your GameStop employee information to verify your identity. If you’ve never registered on ADP, you’ll need a registration code from your store manager or HR.
Do this: Set up your ADP account while you’re still employed. This is especially urgent if your store is on the closure list.
Don’t do this: Assume you can register on ADP after you’ve left GameStop. Former employee registration on ADP can be hit-or-miss, and some report being unable to create a new account after their employment record closes.
Myth #3: “If My Store Closes, I’ll Still Have Portal Access”
This is the myth that burns the most people. When a GameStop store closes, employee access to Workday and Okta can be terminated very quickly, sometimes within days of the closure. ADP access may last longer, but that’s not guaranteed either.
If your store is closing or has a closure date announced:
Do this:
- Log into ADP (my.adp.com) right now and download every pay stub you might need. Save them as PDFs on your phone or computer.
- Check that your mailing address is correct in both Workday and ADP. Your W-2 will be mailed to whatever address is on file.
- Screenshot your benefits information from Workday, especially if you’re enrolled in health insurance and need to know your COBRA options.
- Write down your employee ID, your Workday login, and your ADP login. Store them somewhere you won’t lose.
Don’t do this:
- Don’t wait until after the store closes to download documents. By then, your access may already be gone.
- Don’t assume someone will email you your W-2 or final pay stub. It’s on you to retrieve these.
- Don’t ignore the closure timeline. Some stores have closed with as little as a few days’ notice.
Myth #4: “The Employee Discount Works Through the Portal”
Your GameStop employee discount (15-25% off games, accessories, collectibles, and pre-owned items) is tied to your employee account at the register, not to any portal. You don’t activate it through Workday or ADP.
Worth noting: the discount excludes new consoles, which is the single biggest frustration GameStop employees report about the discount program. If you’re hoping to get a deal on a PS5 or Xbox through your employee account, it doesn’t apply.
GameStop also provides access to a Corporate Shopping platform with deals at 250+ outside retailers. Links to this may appear in Workday, but the Corporate Shopping site has its own login.
Getting Your W-2
For current employees, your W-2 is on ADP at my.adp.com (or w2.adp.com). Go to Pay > Tax Statements. W-2s are available by January 31.
For former employees, try ADP first. If your ADP account still works, your W-2 should be there. If your ADP access has been terminated, contact GameStop HR. Finding the right contact can be difficult given the ongoing store closures and corporate restructuring, so try multiple channels.
If ADP and HR both fail, request a Wage and Income Transcript from the IRS. It contains the same data and is accepted by all tax preparers.
Do this: Log into ADP and check for your W-2 starting in mid-January.
Don’t do this: Wait until April to start looking. The earlier you address access issues, the more options you have.
Okta SSO Troubleshooting
Okta (gamestop.okta.com) is the gateway to Workday and other internal tools. If Okta isn’t loading or rejecting your credentials, nothing downstream will work.
Do this:
- Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try again.
- Try a different browser. Okta occasionally has compatibility issues with older browser versions.
- Check that you’re using your GameStop email or employee ID, not a personal email.
- If your password isn’t working, use Okta’s “Need help signing in?” option before contacting IT.
Don’t do this:
- Don’t try to access Workday directly without going through Okta. The direct Workday URL (myworkday.gamestop.com) may redirect you to Okta anyway.
- Don’t attempt more than 3-4 login attempts in a row. Okta will lock your account after repeated failures, and unlocking requires IT intervention.
Myth #5: “gamestop.com/employee Is the Employee Portal”
The URL gamestop.com/employee exists, but it’s specifically for setting up your employee discount account for online purchases. It is not the portal for pay stubs, schedules, or benefits. If you’re looking for HR tools, go through Okta (gamestop.okta.com) to reach Workday, or use ADP (my.adp.com) for pay documents.
Some new hires get confused because gamestop.com/employee is the first GameStop URL they’re given during onboarding (for discount setup), and they assume it’s the main portal. It isn’t. Bookmark Okta and ADP separately.
Former Employees: Getting Your Records
GameStop’s ongoing store closures have created an unusually large population of former employees who need documents. Here’s the realistic picture:
ADP is your best bet. If your ADP account was set up while you were employed, try logging in at my.adp.com. ADP often retains former employee access longer than Workday. Your W-2 and recent pay stubs should be accessible here if your account is still active.
Workday and Okta access typically ends within days of your last shift, especially for employees at stores that have closed. Don’t count on being able to log into Workday after separation.
Contacting GameStop HR is complicated right now. The company has been through significant corporate restructuring alongside the store closures. If you need HR assistance, try reaching out through whatever contact information was provided during your offboarding process. If you weren’t given any (which happens with abrupt store closures), try GameStop’s corporate line and ask for HR.
IRS Wage and Income Transcript is the backup plan if nothing else works. File Form 4506-T or use the online tool at irs.gov. The transcript contains the same tax data as your W-2.
Benefits and Insurance Access
Benefits enrollment and management are in Workday, not ADP. If you need to check your current health insurance details, review your GameStop employee benefits, or make changes during open enrollment, log into Workday through Okta.
Employees have reported that benefits premiums increased for 2026, so reviewing your current elections is worth doing even outside of open enrollment if you’ve had a qualifying life event.
