Whole Foods corporate employees are being absorbed into Amazon by December 2026, which means the benefits you lose when leaving depend on when you leave and which side of the company you worked for
That transition is the single biggest thing shaping Whole Foods benefits right now. In August 2025, Amazon began formally transitioning Whole Foods corporate employees to Amazon benefits. By late 2026 or 2027, corporate employees will lose their Whole Foods store discount entirely and gain Amazon Extras (3,000+ deals) plus 10% off Amazon.com (capped at $100 per year). Store-level employees keep the store discount for now.
If you are a store employee leaving Whole Foods, this guide is fairly simple. If you are a corporate employee leaving during the transition, the details are messier.
Store employees: what happens when you leave
Your 20-30% employee discount ends on your last day. This is the biggest tangible loss. The standard discount is 20%, but associates who participated in the Healthy Discount Incentive Program could earn 25% or even 30%. On top of that, the discount stacked with in-store sale prices and Amazon Prime deals, making it the most powerful grocery discount in our coverage of 22 companies. Once you leave, all of it is gone.
Your household member who had their own discount card also loses access on your separation date.
Do this: Stock up on staples before your last day. The stacking makes a real difference on bulk purchases.
Don’t do this: Don’t assume your Amazon Prime membership is affected. Prime is a separate consumer subscription. Your Whole Foods employee discount is a separate benefit that stacks on top of Prime deals while you are employed. Losing the employee discount doesn’t cancel your Prime membership.
Health insurance ends on the last day of the month you leave. Whole Foods offers benefits to full-time team members (30+ hours per week). COBRA is available for 18 months at full cost plus 2%. You have 60 days to elect.
Do this: Compare COBRA to healthcare.gov Marketplace plans. If your income drops, subsidies could save you hundreds per month. Check Medicaid eligibility as well.
Don’t do this: Don’t forget about the 60-day deadline. It starts when your coverage ends (end of the month), not when you get the COBRA paperwork.
PTO: the cash-out option is unique
Whole Foods gives 5 floating holidays (no fixed paid holidays) and 15 days of PTO covering all time off. PTO increases with tenure. Stores are closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.
What makes Whole Foods different is the annual PTO-to-cash conversion. While employed, you can convert unused PTO to cash once per year. This is rare in retail.
At separation, PTO payout follows state law. In mandatory-payout states, your accrued and unused PTO appears on your final check. In other states, Whole Foods’ internal policy applies.
Do this: If you are planning to leave and have a lot of unused PTO, consider using the annual cash-out option before separating (if the timing works).
Don’t do this: Don’t count on the cash-out option being available after you leave. It’s a benefit for current employees.
For state-specific rules, see Whole Foods final paycheck laws.
401(k) after leaving Whole Foods
Whole Foods’ 401(k) stays in the plan after separation. Check your vesting schedule to confirm how much of the company match is yours. Standard options: leave, roll to IRA, transfer to new employer, or cash out (penalties apply if under 59 1/2).
Benefits enrollment details are available through mywfmbenefits.com while employed. After separation, contact HR.

Corporate employees: the Amazon transition
If you are a Whole Foods corporate employee leaving during the Amazon integration (August 2025 through December 2026), your situation is more complicated.
New Amazon job offers were issued to corporate WFM employees in November 2025 with new titles, salaries, and benefits packages. If you accepted the Amazon offer, your benefits are transitioning to Amazon’s system. If you declined or were not offered a position, you are effectively being separated from Whole Foods, and the standard termination benefits apply.
The store discount is being phased out for corporate employees by 2026 or 2027. In its place, corporate employees gain Amazon Extras and the 10% Amazon.com discount (capped at $100/year). Many employees have described this as a downgrade, especially for those who shopped at Whole Foods regularly.
Do this: If you are a corporate employee who was offered an Amazon position, review the new benefits package carefully before accepting. Amazon’s benefits structure is different from Whole Foods’ structure, and some employees have reported losing benefits they valued.
Don’t do this: Don’t assume that declining the Amazon offer makes you eligible for standard layoff benefits or severance. Check with HR about your specific situation and what your separation terms look like.
Accessing your info after leaving
Innerview (innerview.wholefoods.com) is the main employee portal for schedules, discount card access, and links to other systems. It deactivates after separation. The Innerview app (iOS/Android) also stops working.
Workday handles pay stubs, W-2s, and benefits. You may have limited access after leaving. If locked out, email wfm.alumnitms@wholefoods.com for W-2 and tax document requests.
Password reset (password.wholefoods.com) requires MFA and may not work after separation.
For W-2 help, see Whole Foods W-2 for former employees.
Other benefits that end
Life insurance and disability end on your last day. The EAP may continue briefly; check with HR. Any Innerview app features (including the discount card stored in the app) stop working.
Employees have reported ongoing bugs with Innerview, including the app showing 0 hours scheduled and discount cards vanishing. If you had these issues while employed, don’t expect them to resolve after separation. Get what you need from the system before your last day.
