You left Walmart in October. Tax season is closing in, and your W-2 still hasn’t shown up. You try logging into OneWalmart out of habit and hit a wall: your 2-Step Verification is gone, your WIN still technically exists in the system, but the portal kicks you out before you can get anywhere useful. Meanwhile, nobody at your old store picks up the phone when you call.
That’s exactly the problem MyTaxForm.com exists to solve. Walmart uses Equifax’s system (employer code 10108) for former associates to retrieve W-2s and old paystubs. The portal doesn’t need your OneWalmart 2SV setup, which is what trips up almost every ex-associate.
Here’s the full walk-through, plus the fallbacks that actually work when the portal doesn’t.
Step 1: Gather what you need before logging in
You can’t guess your way through identity verification on MyTaxForm. Have these ready before you start:
- Your WIN (Walmart Identification Number, 9 digits, on every paystub)
- Your Social Security Number
- Your date of birth
- The last 4 digits of your SSN (for PIN setup)
- Walmart’s employer code: 10108
If you can’t find your WIN, check an old paystub or any Walmart tax document you already have. If you tossed everything, call 1-800-WALMART (1-800-925-6278) and ask payroll. They can look it up with your SSN and date of birth, though wait times get long in late January.
Step 2: Log into MyTaxForm
Go to MyTaxForm.com. On the login screen, enter employer code 10108. Walmart’s logo should appear to confirm you’re in the right place, and this is important because phishing sites that mimic MyTaxForm show up every tax season.
First-time users click Register Now. The system asks for your WIN and SSN to verify identity, then walks you through creating a username, password, and PIN. If you registered while still employed, use those same credentials. Forgot them? Use the Forgot Username or Forgot Password flow, which sends a reset to the email or phone number on file.
Three failed login attempts will lock your account. If that happens, wait 30 minutes or call Equifax support through the number listed on the MyTaxForm login page. They answer faster than Walmart payroll.
Step 3: Download your W-2
Once you’re in, go to Tax Forms on the dashboard. You should see W-2s for every year you worked at Walmart, usually going back 4-5 years. Click the year you need. The form downloads as a PDF you can save, print, or upload straight into TurboTax, H&R Block, FreeTaxUSA, or whatever you use to file.
Walmart typically posts current-year W-2s to MyTaxForm between January 15 and January 20, ahead of the January 31 mailing deadline. If you check before January 15 and don’t see anything, it’s just not available yet.
Step 4: Request a mailed copy if the portal won’t cooperate
Walmart is legally required to mail your W-2 to your last address on file by January 31. If you moved and never updated your address in OneWalmart before leaving, your W-2 probably went to the old one. This is the single most common reason ex-associates don’t have their W-2 by February.
Call 1-800-WALMART and press the option for payroll or former associates. Ask them to:
- Verify the address they have on file for you
- Update it to your current address
- Reissue your W-2
Reissues usually take 10-14 business days. If April 15 is close, skip the reissue and download from MyTaxForm instead.
Step 5: Fallback options when nothing else works
Sometimes payroll can’t locate your record, MyTaxForm locks you out for identity mismatch, and the mailed copy never arrives. Two backup routes:
IRS Wage and Income Transcript. Create an account at IRS.gov and request a transcript of your prior-year wage data. This shows exactly what Walmart reported to the IRS, which is enough to file. These transcripts usually become available in late May for the prior tax year, so they’re better for late filers than for anyone racing the April 15 deadline.
IRS Form 4852. This is the “substitute W-2” form. Use it only when you’ve confirmed your W-2 is genuinely unavailable and you need to file on time. You estimate your wages and withholding from your last paystub, attach Form 4852 to your return, and file normally. Expect slower processing and a higher chance of IRS follow-up.
Common issues and fixes
My WIN isn’t recognized. You’re probably entering it with dashes or spaces. WINs are 9 digits, no punctuation. Also confirm you’re entering your WIN, not your SSN.
The portal says my record doesn’t exist. Walmart takes 2-3 weeks after separation to transfer your data from OneWalmart to MyTaxForm. If you just left, wait another week and try again.
I never got the mailed W-2. Ask payroll to confirm the mailing address on file. USPS returns undeliverable W-2s to Walmart’s corporate office, and payroll can resend once they see it came back.
I’m locked out of 2-Step Verification. That only blocks OneWalmart, not MyTaxForm. Skip OneWalmart entirely for tax documents.
MyTaxForm shows old W-2s but not this year’s. Walmart hasn’t uploaded it yet. Check back a few days later, especially if you’re searching before January 20.
Deadlines worth remembering
- January 31: Walmart’s legal deadline to mail W-2s
- Mid-January: Digital copies usually available on MyTaxForm
- April 15: Federal tax filing deadline in most years
- Late May: IRS wage transcripts become available as backup
If your W-2 looks wrong
Compare every number against your final paystub, especially Box 1 (wages), Box 2 (federal withholding), and the state boxes. If something doesn’t match, request a W-2c (corrected W-2) through Walmart payroll. Don’t file with a wrong W-2 and plan to amend later, because amended returns take months to process and can delay refunds.
