Why we exist
If you’ve ever tried to find your W-2 after leaving a job, figure out whether your final paycheck is even legal, or work out what happens to your benefits the day you quit, you already know the problem. The information is out there, but it’s scattered across a dozen portals, buried in PDFs, contradicted by random forum threads, and half of it is out of date.
WorksPerk started because that gap was obvious and nobody was filling it well. There was no single place a current or former employee could go to get a clear, accurate, plain-English answer about their own job. So we built one.
What we do
We explain the practical side of working at major US employers. How the schedule portal works. What your PTO actually accrues to. How the employee discount works, and what it leaves out. How to get your tax forms once you’ve separated. What your options are after a layoff or a firing.
We cover a growing list of large US companies, and we’re adding more steadily. Alongside the company guides, we publish content on government benefits like unemployment, SNAP, COBRA, and Medicaid, plus calculators and tools that help you run the numbers for your own situation instead of guessing.
Most of our readers are hourly workers, current or former, who showed up with one specific problem to solve. We try to answer the question fast and answer it correctly.
Who’s behind it
WorksPerk is run by a small team that has spent years working on retail and employment information online.
Khizar Ilyas is the founder of WorksPerk. He started the site after watching employees get bad answers from the existing options, and figured someone should do it right.
Marina is co-founder of WorksPerk and the founder of KrogerFans and Bitestaff, our sister sites. She’s spent years building resources that shoppers and workers actually use, and that experience shapes how WorksPerk treats its own readers.
Ain ul Haq is our Editorial Lead. He oversees the content process and is the reason every article holds to the same standard, from research through the final review before anything publishes.
Behind the three of them is a team of authors and editors. Authors research and write; editors check the work for accuracy, clarity, and tone before it goes live. You can read exactly how that works on our editorial policy page.
How we keep it honest
We’re an independent site. We aren’t affiliated with any of the companies we write about, and we don’t take payment to soften our coverage. When a company’s policy is confusing, stingy, or quietly changed for the worse, we say so.
The site is free to read, supported mainly by advertising. Ads pay the bills; they don’t decide what we write.
