Nearly half of the complaints Dollar Tree employees post online about benefits come down to a single issue: classification. Workers putting in full-time hours but classified as part-time, and getting the part-time PTO package as a result. At a company with over 18,000 stores across Dollar Tree and Family Dollar banners, this affects a huge number of people, and the fix is not as simple as asking your manager to change your status.

Am I Full-Time or Part-Time? Start Here.
Your benefits classification determines your entire PTO package at Dollar Tree. Before anything else, confirm your official status.
If you are classified as full-time: You are eligible for vacation, paid holidays, and sick time based on your tenure. Your PTO accrues over time and increases as you stay with the company. Full details are available through Compass Mobile (compassmobile.dollartree.com) and the Associate Information Center.
If you are classified as part-time: Your PTO options are limited. Part-time associates may receive sick time in states with mandatory paid sick leave laws, but vacation and holiday pay are generally reserved for full-time employees.
If you are working full-time hours but classified as part-time: This is the trap. Dollar Tree, like many discount retailers, may schedule associates for 30+ hours weekly without reclassifying them as full-time. The result: you work the hours of a full-time employee but receive part-time benefits (or no benefits at all).
What to do about it: First, document your hours over several weeks. If you consistently work 30 or more hours per week, raise the issue with your store manager. If that does not result in a change, contact the Speak Up Line at 1-888-835-5792. You can also check whether your state’s labor laws require benefits at your hour level.
How Much PTO Do Full-Time Employees Get?
Dollar Tree provides paid vacation, holidays, and sick time to full-time associates. The exact amount varies by tenure, but the structure follows standard discount retail patterns: you start with a basic allocation that increases at tenure milestones.
Dollar Tree does not publicly disclose a detailed accrual table. Your specific numbers are visible in MyInfo through the Associate Information Center, which links out from Compass Mobile. If MyInfo is not showing your PTO balance, try accessing it through a different browser or clearing your cache. Dollar Tree’s portal system is the most fragmented of any company covered on this site, with 6 or more separate systems that employees need to bounce between.
Dollar Tree vs. Dollar General PTO
Both companies operate in the discount retail space, and their PTO policies share similar structures. A few differences stand out:
Dollar General offers a 20% employee discount, while Dollar Tree offers around 10%. That gap matters for employees who shop at their own stores. On PTO specifically, both companies tie everything to FT/PT classification, and both have reputations for keeping associates in part-time status despite full-time hours.
Dollar General operates over 19,000 stores compared to Dollar Tree’s 18,000+ (including Family Dollar). Both companies run lean, meaning PTO approval can be difficult regardless of which banner you work under.
Navigating Dollar Tree’s Portal System
Dollar Tree has the most fragmented portal setup of any company we cover. To access PTO information, you may need to use some combination of:
Compass Mobile (compassmobile.dollartree.com) for schedules, pay, and news. MyInfo for payroll details and PTO balances. myTree for benefits enrollment. myCareer for development. Doculivery for W-2s, pay stubs, and direct deposit. The Associate Information Center ties some of these together, but not seamlessly.
If you are trying to find your PTO balance and cannot figure out which portal has it, start with Compass Mobile and follow the links to MyInfo. A late-2025 system migration may have changed some of these paths, so if a link does not work, check with your store manager or call the Speak Up Line.
For verified portal links and login help, see the Dollar Tree login portals guide.
Family Dollar Employees: Same Rules Apply
If you work at a Family Dollar location, your PTO policy comes from Dollar Tree Inc., the parent company. The same FT/PT classification rules, the same accrual structure, and the same portal systems apply. Your Compass Mobile login and Associate Information Center access work across both banners.
The one thing to watch: if you transferred between a Dollar Tree store and a Family Dollar location (or vice versa), verify that your tenure and PTO balance carried over correctly. System transfers between banners do not always go smoothly.

Holidays and Seasonal Scheduling
Dollar Tree provides paid holidays for eligible full-time employees. Stores remain open on most holidays, so working a holiday shift may come with premium pay depending on your classification.
The busiest periods at Dollar Tree are back-to-school (August-September) and the holiday shopping season (October-December). PTO requests during these windows face the highest denial rates. If you are planning time off, summer months and January tend to be the easiest times to get approval.
Part-time associates generally do not receive holiday pay unless required by state law.
State Sick Leave Protections
If you work in a state with mandatory paid sick leave, Dollar Tree must provide sick time regardless of your FT/PT classification. This is separate from vacation PTO and accrues based on hours worked. States including California, New York, Washington, New Jersey, and a growing list of others have these protections in place.
Your sick leave balance should appear in MyInfo or on your pay stub. If you do not see it and you work in a mandatory sick leave state, raise the issue with your store manager or the Speak Up Line.
When You Leave Dollar Tree
Portal access is typically lost at separation, which means you cannot check your PTO balance after your last day. Save or screenshot your balance before you leave. Whether unused PTO gets paid out depends on your state’s law and Dollar Tree’s policy for your location.
