PetSmart’s HR phone number is 1-866-263-8411, and the HR email is hrsharedservices@petsmart.com. The employee portal is HR Connect at hrconnect.petsmart.com. W-2s and pay statements are through ADP at my.adp.com with registration code petm-pets. Those are the four things you need most often, and the troubleshooting guide below covers what to do when any of them are not working.
Problem: you cannot log into HR Connect
HR Connect at hrconnect.petsmart.com is PetSmart’s HR and payroll portal. Login uses your User ID and password. If you cannot get in, work through these steps in order:
Check your credentials. Your User ID is assigned during onboarding. If you have forgotten it, your store manager can look it up. Passwords are case-sensitive, so verify that caps lock is off and you are typing it exactly right.
Try a password reset. HR Connect should have a “Forgot Password” link on the login page. Follow the prompts using your User ID and the email address associated with your account.
Contact IT or HR. If the self-service reset fails, call 1-866-263-8411 and ask for IT support or password reset assistance. You can also email hrsharedservices@petsmart.com, but phone is faster for access issues.
Check your employment status. If you recently left PetSmart, your HR Connect access may already be deactivated. Former employees should go directly to ADP for W-2s (see below).
Problem: you need your W-2 and cannot find it
PetSmart uses ADP for W-2s and pay statements, not HR Connect. This is the most common source of confusion.
January (W-2 release): Log into ADP at my.adp.com. If you do not have an ADP account yet, register using the code petm-pets. Navigate to Pay > Tax Statements to find your PetSmart W-2.
February (if W-2 has not arrived): Check ADP again. If it is not there, confirm your employment dates with your store manager. Then call 1-866-263-8411 and ask for payroll support. Request a paper copy be mailed if the electronic version is unavailable.
March through April (tax crunch): If you still cannot access your W-2, request an IRS Wage and Income Transcript as a backup. Form 4852 (Substitute for Form W-2) works as a last resort for filing.
After April (missed deadline): You can still file a tax extension while waiting for your W-2. Contact ADP or PetSmart HR to track down the issue.
Former employees sometimes find that their ADP account is still active after separation, so try logging in before assuming you are locked out. The registration code petm-pets works for creating a new ADP account if you never set one up while employed.
Problem: your benefits are not right
PetSmart runs benefits through an Alight-powered portal at worklife.alight.com/petsmart (or digital.alight.com/petsmart). The info hub at benefits.petsmart.com provides plan details and enrollment guides but does not handle actual enrollment or changes.
During open enrollment: Log into the Alight benefits portal to review and update your selections. Open enrollment happens on a defined schedule each year, and missing the window means you cannot make changes until the next period or a qualifying life event.
After a qualifying life event: Marriage, birth of a child, or loss of other coverage allows you to make changes outside of open enrollment. Process these through the Alight portal or call 1-866-263-8411 for guidance.
If deductions look wrong: Compare your pay stub in HR Connect or ADP against your benefits elections in the Alight portal. If the numbers do not match, call 1-866-263-8411 and explain the discrepancy. Have both your pay stub and your Alight elections summary available when you call.
The full breakdown of PetSmart employee benefits, including the 401(k) match (50 cents per dollar up to 6% of pay, vesting at 20% per year), is covered in that separate guide.
Problem: your discount is not applying correctly
PetSmart employees receive 15% off most products and services, plus 50% off select proprietary brands (Authority, Simply Nourish, Only Natural Pet food and litter). You also get free monthly dog washes, teeth cleanings, and nail grinding in the salon, plus a free 6-week puppy or beginner training class.
If your discount is not applying at checkout, the issue is usually tied to your employee profile in the point-of-sale system. Talk to your store manager, who can verify your employee status in the register system.
For questions about the full PetSmart employee discount and what qualifies for the 50% rate, that dedicated guide has the details.
Problem: you have a workplace complaint
Start with your store manager for day-to-day issues. Scheduling conflicts, interpersonal problems, and minor policy questions are usually resolved at the store level.
For issues that your manager cannot resolve (or issues that involve your manager), escalate to your District Manager. Your store should have the DM’s contact info posted.
If you need to go beyond the district level, call 1-866-263-8411 and ask for associate relations. You can also email hrsharedservices@petsmart.com with a written summary of your concern. Written reports create a paper trail that makes follow-up easier.
For serious concerns (harassment, discrimination, safety violations), ask for the ethics or compliance reporting process when you call 1-866-263-8411. Reports should be handled by a team outside your store’s management chain.
Problem: you left and need something from HR
After leaving PetSmart, your priorities are:
W-2: Go to ADP at my.adp.com. Try your existing login first. If it is deactivated, try registering with code petm-pets. If that does not work, call 1-866-263-8411.
COBRA: If you had health insurance through PetSmart, you have 60 days from separation to enroll in COBRA. Your separation paperwork should include enrollment instructions. If it does not, call 1-866-263-8411 and ask for benefits support. More on this in our benefits after leaving PetSmart guide.
Employment verification: PetSmart uses a third-party service. Most lenders and background check companies pull records automatically.
PTO payout: Whether unused PTO is paid out depends on your state. PetSmart PTO guide covers accrual rates, and the final paycheck guide covers payout rules.
Getting through to PetSmart HR faster
Call volume at 1-866-263-8411 peaks during January (W-2 season), open enrollment, and after holiday seasonal separations. Mid-week mornings between 9 a.m. and noon tend to have the shortest wait times.
Have your User ID, store number, and specific question ready before dialing. If your issue crosses departments (pay error affecting benefits deductions, for example), ask the first representative to transfer you internally rather than hanging up and calling back.
Email at hrsharedservices@petsmart.com is better for non-urgent issues that benefit from a written record. Expect a response within a few business days, not same-day. For questions that need both HR and benefits input, sending one email to HR shared services with the full context is more efficient than contacting each department separately.
PetSmart employee hub covers login portal troubleshooting and the quitting process.
