Unlike most grocery chains, Whole Foods Market is owned by Amazon, and that relationship has been quietly reshaping how employee systems work behind the scenes. Corporate employees are being transitioned to Amazon benefits and titles by December 2026. Some workers assume this means their W2 now comes from Amazon. Others think the Innerview app handles tax documents. Neither is accurate for store-level employees right now. Here’s what’s actually true.

Quick reference: Your Whole Foods W2 is in Workday. Log in with your [name]@wholefoods.com credentials. Navigate to Pay > My Tax Documents > View/Print. Electronic copies available by mid-January. Former employees: email wfm.alumnitms@wholefoods.com. Paper copies mailed by January 31 to your last address on file.

Myth: Your W2 is on the Innerview app

Innerview at innerview.wholefoods.com is the employee portal for schedules, discount card access, company news, and links to other systems. It’s available on iOS and Android and acts as a hub. But Innerview itself does not host your W2 or tax documents. It can link you to Workday, which is where the actual documents live.

This matters because Innerview has been buggy. Employees report the app showing 0 hours scheduled, discount cards vanishing, and pages freezing. If you’re trying to get your W2 and Innerview is acting up, go directly to Workday instead of trying to navigate through Innerview.

Myth: Your W2 comes from Amazon now

For store-level Team Members, your W2 still comes from Whole Foods Market. The employer name on the form is a Whole Foods entity, not Amazon. The EIN belongs to Whole Foods.

The Amazon transition is happening at the corporate level. Whole Foods corporate employees received new Amazon job offers in late 2025 with new titles, salaries, and benefits. Those corporate workers may eventually receive W2s from Amazon once the transition is complete (expected by December 2026). But if you work in a store, your W2 is from Whole Foods, and nothing about that has changed.

Myth: Former employees can still use Workday

Not exactly. When you leave Whole Foods, your Workday login is deactivated. Unlike companies that maintain alumni portals (Walmart’s MyTaxForm.com, Lowe’s Equifax with code 11116), Whole Foods doesn’t have a self-service system for former employees to pull tax documents.

What they do have is an alumni email address: wfm.alumnitms@wholefoods.com. Send a message with your full name, the last four digits of your SSN, your date of birth, and the tax year you need. The alumni TMS team should respond with instructions for getting your W2.

Response times on this email vary. During peak tax season (late January through mid-February), expect delays. Send your request as early in January as possible.

If the email doesn’t get a response within two weeks, your other options are the paper W2 (mailed to your last address by January 31) or the IRS transcript route (Form 4506-T for a Wage and Income Transcript, or Form 4852 as a substitute).

One thing former Whole Foods employees report: the alumni email works, but it’s not fast. Some people get a reply within a few days. Others wait two to three weeks during peak season. If your filing deadline is approaching and you haven’t heard back, don’t keep waiting. File the IRS Form 4506-T online and get the Wage and Income Transcript, which contains the same data your employer reported. That transcript, combined with your last pay stub, gives you everything you need to file accurately.

Myth: The Healthy Discount Incentive affects your W2

It doesn’t. The Healthy Discount Incentive Program lets you bump your store discount from the standard 20% to 25% or 30% by meeting certain health benchmarks. That increased discount reduces what you pay at the register. It’s not reported as taxable compensation and doesn’t appear anywhere on your W2.

How current employees actually get their W2

The real process for current Whole Foods team members:

Log in to Workday with your Whole Foods credentials. Your username is typically your [name]@wholefoods.com email, the same login you use for Innerview and other systems. If you’ve forgotten your password, go to password.wholefoods.com and reset it using multi-factor authentication.

Once in Workday, navigate to Pay > My Tax Documents. Select View/Print for the tax year you need. Download the PDF and save a copy to your personal device.

Electronic W2s are typically available by mid-January. Don’t wait for the paper copy if you can pull it digitally. The electronic version is identical, and you’ll have it weeks earlier.

What the Amazon transition means for your future W2s

This is worth understanding even though it doesn’t affect your current W2. Whole Foods corporate employees are losing their Whole Foods store discount by December 2026 or 2027 and gaining Amazon Extras (3,000+ deals) plus a 10% Amazon.com discount capped at $100 per year. New job offers with Amazon titles went out in November 2025.

Store employees are not part of this corporate transition and continue to receive Whole Foods W2s, Whole Foods benefits, and the Whole Foods employee discount of 20-30% (depending on the Healthy Discount Incentive tier).

If you’re a corporate employee who transitioned to an Amazon role mid-year, you could receive two W2s: one from Whole Foods for the portion of the year before your transition, and one from Amazon for the period after. Both are legitimate and need to be filed separately.

Reading your Whole Foods W2

Box 1 is your total taxable wages. Whole Foods team members who participate in the Healthy Discount Incentive Program don’t have the discount itself reflected on the W2 (it’s a purchase discount, not income). But any pre-tax deductions for health insurance through the company plan do reduce your Box 1 below your gross pay.

Box 12, code D covers 401(k) contributions. Code DD shows employer health coverage cost (informational only). If you had HSA contributions, those show under code W.

Whole Foods operates in roughly 44 states plus DC and the UK. Store employees working in a single state will see one state entry in Boxes 15 through 17. If you transferred between states, expect separate lines for each.

Key deadlines

Electronic W2s in Workday by mid-January. Paper copies postmarked by January 31. Federal filing deadline April 15. Former employees should email wfm.alumnitms@wholefoods.com no later than early January to give the team time to process the request before filing season gets hectic.
